The Truth Hounds report "Izoliatsiia: From Culture To Torture" tells a tragic story of the transformation of Donetsk’s Izoliatsiia Art Centre into an illegal prison and torture site following the Russian occupation.
The artwork is partially inspired by my own experience at Izoliatsiia when it was still an art centre (before Russia occupied my home city of Donetsk in 2014). Each illustration references an art object that was once on display there.
The flashing lightbulb references the art installation Pulse Room by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer.
The deer statue in the background is the direct depiction of an actual statue on the territory of the former art centre.
The broken sculpture references Maria Kulikovska's project Army of Clones.
